Personally, I find that Apple's whole ecosystem is far superior to anything else out there (and yes, I have actually invested in Android and Windows Phone too). All the apps just work. 99% of the content in the App Store is guaranteed to work on my iPhone. The reason? Apple and its developer buddies don't have to worry about thousands of devices that need optimisation. It has a small portfolio of devices with which to work; the best part is, Apple owns all of them!
Hence, updates like 8.0.2 (about to be roll out) are released quicker.
High end Android devices are better in many ways. But it's Android itself that letting them down in the long run. The whole open source infrastructure it employs is too fragmented. The software update issue is humongous-ly disadvantageous because older devices don't usually have sustained support. If a security flaw was found in the very core programming of Android, only the high end devices with big companies backing them would get fixes.
There's a lot I could say, but in the end, I personally find the Apple ecosystem is better for me and my daily needs.

In fact I actually find a lot of his points wrong as I have the best of Apple and Samsung, but he got a few things nailed too. Let me clarify -
Intentionally limited in functionality - Yeah, In performance - hell no, they can smoke a Nexus when it comes to being snappy. Better optimizations work in their favor instead of cool snapdragons. Although limited 'functionality' does bite, bluetooth, wifi-direct, ability to download stuff, copy paste movies, music, pictures directly, infrared, a high res. camera, are a few things which could've been better.
Price - If you would be able to buy an Apple for $200-$400, would they be able to maintain their 'premium' phone market? Higher prices mostly lead to downfall of companies, in this case, lowering prices would result in loss. But yeah a little price cut would be good, these things are kind of way too pricey, much more than comparative flagships which makes sure that mostly businessmen, and similar users manage to buy it.
Look and Design - I'dd call iPhone 5S's design perfect by every standard. 6's isn't that good, due to those lines at back. Camera hump, despite being small is more of a personal opinion, non intrusive in my case.
Specs - You can't eat specs. Specs ensure faster performance, which Apple delivers, amazing gaming capabilities, yeps that's checked too. Only shortcoming is RAM, website tabs reloading once you switch to another kind of irritate. Now only if resolution could be an inch better... maybe i'm nitpicking here, dunno..
Being able to afford - I can afford both, yet I would go for a Galaxy S5 anytime over an iPhone 6. Mostly due to those restrictions I mentioned above. I'm a multimedia consumer and don't want to pay Apple for everything I have already bought.
And nopes, Apple's smartphones would not be beaten at performance wars. Not at least. Apple makes one of the most premium smartphones, which are all rounders for business class with a status to show and casual usage. Bending is more like a flaw, similar to peeling of paint of older models, it should get fixed, if not, we got to treat it more carefully.
Last but not the least, these are NOT apple forums, and one can always post criticism if they wish to do so as long as they are just showing their opinion.

Why do u keep on bashing apple and its product? -> because they suck, they are intentionally limited in funcitonality, they have all kind of problems, they bend easily.... should i continue
Is it beacause of the price? -> Yes, they are overrated, apple has higher than normal profit margins, so you don't pay more for better hw, you pay more so apple can make more money
Is it because of the look or design? -> No, the look and feel is actually nice, i don't have any problem with the design, except this latest ones, they look wierd, stick out camera? wtf, but i liked older designs, so mechanical design in general is ok, problem is hw+sw
Is it because of the specs? -> yes, somewhat, they don't follow any standards, standards? fck it, we invent our own standards, which btw doesn't work with anything non apple.

Apple devices seems to suffer from low wifi signals, when i try to hook a guest's iphone or ipad to one of the available ssids at the hotel i work at, it's always hard to get the ssids to show up.
