I am really sorry, to hear this, because i think a Nexus like Sony device could be magnificent!!!
(And stable, which in case of Sony would be a cool thing).

AnonD-115822, 02 Oct 2014Since Sony has such a bad Android UI , they would better us... moreI disagree. I think they have probably the best OEM version of Android. But of course I would disagree, because its an subjective opinion

Sony is for Technological Inovations.. when we speak of sony we are speaking of great technology both in hardware and software...

Apple is for Design and Luxury... when we speak of apple what comes first is the price with the imagination of our selves with the phone...

Samsung is for keeping the android fever alive... when we speak of samsung what we think of is just the android experience without any innovations...

Nokia is for Revolution... when we talk about Nokia what we think is soemthing for a change

        ^_^

I hope Sony does get into AOSP ROMs. It would be great to see a big manufacturer get in on that. Sony is now known for their great design, so it would be good to have that combined with super fast updates.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2014What's wrong with Sony's ROM? It's perfect.Probably you mean perfectly stuck in time, with no upgrades.
That's the experience for many non-flagship devices.

AOSP is the easiest way to bring updates to ALL phones, not just some.

Confusing me, 02 Oct 2014This is confusing me... I mean, see this: http://www.xda-d... moreYou've just posted the news to which Sony is reacting (denying).
It's somewhat easy to understand, they don't want to deal with the warranty claims of the mishaps the "average joe" may do while flashing this kinds of ROMs so, at least for now, all of that is probably true -- only it's not admitted officially, it's "semi-official".

They aren't making *official* AOSP ROMs, but they kind of are making semi-official Cyanogenmod ROMs.
Let's not forget that Alin Jerpelea works for Sony and he is the founder (and key person) of all that is FreeXperia.

ASOP on the Z3 or Z2 with the Sony camera and Walkman app would be the perfect match. Might even make a huge improvement in their sagging sales. It will definitely simplify updates and reduce times to provide updates.

Bad for them. They could have multiplied their sales two folds...

their walkman app is one of the things that make me fall more in love with the Xperia ROM since no other manufacturer offers as many customization options like sony for music lovers ...so simplistic and fun!

Sony should stop producing devices with 4gb internal storage.

Since Sony has such a bad Android UI , they would better use stock or create a new one.
