22 June, 2009
Today T-Mobile announced their second Android-powered smartphone. The full-touch T-Mobile myTouch 3G will run on version 1.5 of the OS and, unlike the G1, will sport no hardware keypad whatsoever...

No matter what you say the g1 was still the 5th highest selling smartphone in the country last year and was only out for 4 months. And guess what wasn't number one? The iphone was number 2, getting beat by the Blackberry Curve. Who has the developer and conusmer rated number one blackberry on the market right now. That would be T-mobile and the 8900. Which consistently beats out the Storm (for all its buggy software flaws) and the bold (for its horrid battery life). And yes T-mobile was very slow to the prestigious phone game but they have now caught up. Especially w/plenty more phones coming out this year. Unlike At&t which releases one outstanding phone a year (iphone), T-mobile will be releasing at least 4-5 Android devices this year. Future line-up reads G1, Mytouch, Touchpro 2, Sony Ericsson Cyber shot 8 Meg, Motorola Android, 2-3 Samsung Android devices including the Samsung I-7500 which appears amazing with the 8 Gig internal and 32 Expandable memory, and the gorgeous Huawei Android, and 2 more BB's......... And that's just whats leaked. Who knows what else is hidden deaper. So if anyone finds they can complain about that lineup, well then I'd offer you my paycheck but I know you'd probably complain about that too...

Rumors had it with the 5mp camera but it's not happening. I don't know if this is still going to be my choice. T-mobile here sucks with their 1700 3G band making my N95 8gb useless =(

MastarPete, 22 Jun 2009looks nice and I can't wait for more android offerings, any... more9 years ago, Tmobile had somewhat decent phones because everybody elses phones were crap as well. That is true that you don't have to rely on your carrier to sell you a phone but when you have a carrier that picks up great phones AND subsidizes the price then you don't have to worry about going out of your way to buy a $700 phone that has the capabilities of a $200 phone subsidized. It's called, Supply and Demand. Who would go to a phone company nowadays if they see that the best phone they have is still a flip phone? Hardly anybody. Dude, we live in the age of true smartphones which TMobile hardly has any of. Also after 9 years, I would think that Tmobile wouldv'e chosen the phones they carry better as well. I mean they're competing against other phone companies such as AT&T (who know how to choose somewhat decent phones), Orange (Who in my opinion is one of the best phone companies out there. Not only do they pick some of the best phones but they offer them for free under contracts that can be ended in less than 1 year under a good plan). O2 (Another Company that knows what the people want in phones. They also choose some of the best phones under good contract plans). Verizon Wireless (Who picks decent phones every now and then) and many more. The only companies T-Mobile are actually in front of as far as cell phone choice is Motorola and Boost Mobile in my opinion. I mean, would you want to go into a competitor's store and see Omnia HD's, HTC Touch HD's, HTC Touch Pro 2's (Which is the only phone TMobile is getting that is worth something), Omnia Pro's, N97's and more awesome phones then go into your phone company store and see Nokia 3220's, Tmobile Sidekick LX, G1, TMobile Dash, Shadow, Wing, and other crap phones? That is a terrible feeling. I've done it before. I went into AT&T's Store and saw an array of excellent phones then went into TMobiles store and saw old flip phones and a G1. That's degrading. I don't want to speak on this matter anymore. I'm already getting that bad feeling again just thinking about it.

I for one am very excited to get myTouch3G. I've been using an unlocked iPhone on T-Mobile for a while now.

I like T-Mobile's network where I live and the call quality is excellent. I've been testing their 3G network out here in LA and I like what I see. They don't have 80 million users clogging up the network so at least in my area it's all mine for the taking. ;-) No complaints here!

I text and email a lot for my business. Using a virtual keyboard is good for quick stuff, like searches. An actual keyboard is a must. If only the MyTouch had a slide out keyboard. It would be awesome.

I would have preferred a 3.5 mm jack, but when I stop and think about how many times I'd need it it's really a moot point. I use my Nano for music and a BT headset for calls while driving.

Discuss more about this phone at http://www.myTouch3GForum.com , I usually hangs out there.

@anonymous: hmm after 9 years I would have thought you'd understand the main benefit of GSM phones. You DON'T have to rely on your carrier to sell you a phone! As for the oddball frequency, you can thank the the current highest bidder system the FCC uses to license our limited airwaves. especially since AT&T seems to have bought up all of the normal spectrum forcing T-mobile to go non-standard.

                                      1. Mac - stable, tons of apps
                                      2. Android - open source, stable
                                      3. WinMo - crashes more frequently than Mac, 6.5 looks promising
                                      4. Symbian S60 - limited apps, buggy os, still has some work to do.

Tmobile, I don't know why I signed up with yall. Gracious!!!! You would think that you would have somewhat of an idea of good phones but I guess you don't. The Touch Pro 2/Wing 2 will be the only phone you have that is worth something. Then yall want to be an oddball and pick a off the wall 3G frequency 1700 that NOBODY HAS ON ANY OF THEIR PHONES!!!!!!! To make matters worse, yall didn't hold up on your Loyalty plan. I've been with you since 2000' and I still haven't qualified for the loyalty plan. What's up with that TMobile? I thought you had to have a plan for at least 22 months? 9 years sure does seem like more than 22 months to me. I'm thinking about switching to Orange or O2 now because Tmobile is becoming garbage fast.
