The iPhone's icon-based interface is mostly unchanged from version 1.0 of the ROM. Sure you can have multiple panels of icons and any icon can be moved around, but these aren't huge changes. I STILL can't better organize my many pages of icons into categories (how about some folders?). I've seen people with eight panels full of icons. It's ridiculous! How do you find the app you want among among a sea of dozens?

And, why can't I have more than four items on the dock? I use more than four apps on a regular basis. In addition, I STILL can't check my next appointment at a quick glance. I STILL need to unlock the phone to see any sort of useful information (except for missed calls and missed SMS).

The latest iPhone's claim to fame is its speed. And yes, it's faster compared to the 3G and especially the original. But even with that, I still need to go ‘Home’ in order to open another application quickly, which takes time. Multitasking on the iPhone still totally sucks. In Windows Mobile, jumping from email to calendar and back to email is several times faster than it is in iPhone. Every second counts.

Web browsing IS smooth and fast on the 3GS, but hey, Apple, where is Flash support? Having Flash support is absolutely critical, and the iPhone STILL lacks it.

The iPhone interface is stale, and so is the design of the hardware. It hasn't changed much since 2007. Windows Mobile is still ahead, it can multi-task like a champ, it's available in a dozen form factors, it has second-to-none Exchange integration, and it is highly tweakable. Oh, and Spb Mobile Shell 3.0 kicks butt.

My 3G battery runs down like there is no tomorrow and it's slow as a pig. Especially when compared to my iPod Touch 2G which is silk smooth. Thank goodness for the 3G S.

Re previous poster: what is so wrong with this site reporting on unlocking? It is legal and might be of interest to visitors to this so site. Whats the problem?

I downloaded the new OS 3.0. Installed it on my iPhone 3G through the latest iTunes 8.2. Then jailbroke it via Redsn0w 0.7.2. Then using Cydia on my jailbroken iPhone, I unlocked with Ultrasn0w package it to make it work on any network. Currently using it in Dubai on etisalat Network.
The whole procedure actually worked like a charm.

too bad the children that developed pwnagetool couldn't have come up with a more mature name for it. it just makes me cringe with embarrassment, are the children of the internet ever going to outgrow these simplistic, juvenile trends? eh, i lost my faith in humanity years ago...

You need to keep with the times. This is only for the old versions of pwnagetool and quickpwn. The new pwnagetool for 3.0 and redsn0w are fully functioning with iTunes 8.2.

[deleted post]"Keep the following in mind before you begin (as of time of this post):

redsn0w is available for Windows and Mac and this guide is applicable to both.
The newest version of iTunes, iTunes 8.2, is required.
You can only Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using this tool, you cannot unlock it at this time.
You can Jailbreak and Unlock your iPhone 2.0.
                                    You can Jailbreak iPodTouch 1.0.
You cannot jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3GS.
You must restore your iPhone to the latest firmware 3.0. "

Please... If your going to tell people to keep those things in mind, make sure you be specific and understand the facts 100%.

You can unlock you iPhone 3G, but not directly with redsn0w. You need to first jailbreak with redsn0w then add the repo to your Cydia sources. Now you can install ultrasn0w (by searching "ultrasn0w" in cydia) to fully unlock your iPhone 3G, 100% test by me, all Australian Carriers work.

Also, calling it an iPhone 2.0 may be misleading to some people (they may think you mean the iPhone OS 2.0 firmware version). You should call it an iPhone 2G or iPhone 1st gen.

Not only can you jailbreak your iPod Touch 1G but also 2G. The iPod Touch 2G has been 100% tested by me and it is fully working with redsn0w.

Just wanted to add in the corrections just to make it clearer for people.
