First of all, you didn't return any facts so please don't try to talk to others in terms of dumb/smart. (I dont't pretend i'm smart, just talking about a phone).
I didn't talk in terms of overkill for Apple but for the phone. According to benchmarks the iPhone is not exactly a slowpoke... (both CPU and GPU wise)
So why putting a bigger, more power hungry CPU in it? it kills battery life for no good.
iPhone 4 battery capacity was 1420 mah dude, the iPhone 6 has a 1810 mah battery. Not exactly the same. It's still not very big by today's standards, but battery life is improved in comparison with earlier generations. If you asked me, I would've preferred a little thicker iPhone 6 with a bigger battery, but that's not how Apple plays the game atm. Still iPhone 6 battery life isn't bad at all. (not the best either).
Last: why post such a jerk comment? No need to be so offensive on something that's just a phone. If we talked in real life about it you prob would've been nicer too.

After using Android phones over a decade, owning a iPhone 6 Plus seems to be degrade when it comes to the features. And who said iPhone don't lag and hangs. Try login to youtube and you will get whole of lags in iPhone 6 Plus. Connecting to new wifi connection, hangs the phone.
When I showed this concerned to iStore they said wait till next update. Not happy with the limited RAM.
Another thing about iPad, why they don't have calling or sms function. I am in Qatar and to recharge the internet load, you have to put the nano sim in iPhone and then recharge it. That is ridiculous.
This is based on true experience and not just hate or troll.

The X chips had a clear duty: enable iPad to drive a very high resolution display smoothly (so more GPU power in X). An X chip would be overkill in iPhone and also would destroy it's battery life.
The m8 is a totally different story and won't see an X version, as the motion processors are meant for ultralight CPU tasks, not GPU ones.
So don't worry dude, your iPhone 6's A8 chip will remain Apple's latest for iPhones untill next year's A9 :)

Pure horsepower. Apps cant even take advantage of the A7 in the 5S, let alone the new monster chips from Apple.

The iPhone 6 is just a month old and the chipset of it is already outdated by the A8x and hopefully the m8 will also be outdated my the M8x. No like from my side for this move of Apple.

Never tested the 6+, so I simply don't know if it's a problem.

The language you use indicates that there is no room for opinion save your own, and one simply has no time to ignorant opiniated people with a sense of self-entitlement.

For every reason you have given (which were mainly vague mind you), there have been better and stronger responses, made by people better than both of us.

Is it going to be a split screen deal like Win8, or will it be just like Android style multitasking, where an app will run in the background with another in the foreground?
Secondly: iPhone 6+ already has a bigger resolution (fullHD) than all other iPhone products, by this standard, it also would have benefited from more RAM.
And I'm certain that a lot of people will also be using it to browse resource intensive web sites.
I'm not trying to bash the iPad. I think it's great they are finally going with 2GB of RAM. I just don't understand why Apple couldn't put just a little extra in the 6 plus. Most reasons why the iPad needs more RAM are also be applicable to the iPhone 6 plus.

to keep selling iPads now with iphone 6 plus around, they need some extra hardware and features to set apart. so yes ipad with 2 Gb ram and A8x it is a nice touch

And why was the 5 more stable than the 5s?
64bit requires more than 1gb. Plain and simple. And multi tasking greatly benefits from more than 1gb.
With 2-3GB it probably would have less crashes and better stability.
If course ios had always lead in app crashes. However their on going bugs and freezing are not helping. I think it's a combination together of the poor optimization of ios lately and the lacking of proper ram support.
And regardless is still a slap in the face. Especially when it comes to future updates.... which knowing apple might still just be part of their plan. Look what ios 7 did to the iphone 4 and 4s.
Now if their updates continue like that then it will force more 6 users to update sooner rather than later.

My personal experience is that the iPhone 6 don't suffer from low-RAM crashes, but the iPad Air does seem to have a lot of trouble with various tabs and RAM-intensive websites.
