Waited all year for this an Google releases a phone as big as a phone booth. What about an updated version of Nexus 5 with decent battery and camera this time.... I am really disappointed.

Either dollar value has gone down or Google has lost its mind.

Really annoyed that a smaller (portable) phone wasn't released. I have waited all year for this. Nexus 5 battery and camera is not up to standard, wanted an updated version of this model. Not going to happen. Really annoyed.

There is really no reason to buy this over the 2014 Moto X. Basically almost the same Specs (at least no significant differences) with the Moto X being more affordable, not so huge and with a lot of software extras that the nexus 6 does not offer. Besides Moto X will get Android L update for sure.
The biggest advantage of Nexus line was its price over the other offerings but now that is gone.

observer, 15 Oct 2014google has not still updated itself like what apple did las... moreMan! you are behind everyone else! What you need 64 bits for? Apple is still in 2012 and only processor is current. All the rest is outdated. However new apple looks much better than ever before.

WHAT? larger screen than Note 4 and the same boring vanilla Android with no productivity features? kinda worthless, for that kind of money to spend. Rather pick up Note 4 than this expensive Nexus. Almost same price here.

Has no one noticed that the footprint is virtually identical to the iPhone 6+? (1mm longer, 5mm wider) Apple can't keep its fatty bezels under control.

back of device is not very appealing. Very "cheap" look. Extremly surprising Google went Phablet for their famous nexus line. It's like they were forced to make this move in response to apples iphone 6 +.

"no way! apple make 5.5 inch phone, we better top that! always have to be bigger then them."

just sad, how apple is playing their competitors like a fool.

Comparing specs of the Nexus 6 and Note 4 using gsmarena's compare option under specifications leaves little difference. It pretty much just the S pen. For a price difference of about $200.
Sure, the Nexus6 has no replaceable memory card and battery. But both require removing the backcover and restarting the phone on the Note - a hassle. A portable USB drive or memorystick with OTG and a USB battery can substitute.
Computerworld today has a "deep-dive" review of the Note 4 claiming it to be less smooth and snappy than other Android devices such as the HTC One (M8) and Motorola Moto X - I guess the ugly word is laggy. If true then the problem is then apparently in Samsungs UI - TouchWiz. And Android L can't fix that - only Samsung can. Perhaps it takes personnel replacements in Samsungs SW and QA depts to get it fixed. But this issue has gone on long enough. For that reason the replacement of my original Note will likely not be another Note but perhaps instead the Nexus6. I know lagginess from my original Note and can't stand it.

The charm is gone...Google doesn't get it that the whole point why people loved this phone was because of the value for money experience it gave. Now it's just another high end phone.

google has not still updated itself like what apple did last year with unbelievable powerful 64-BIT based chip.
i am sure everyone is gonne respond to me saying `have a look at nexus 9``its 64 bit`.
yes it is, but its a table not phone.
Android users has not touched 64-bit tech unlike iphone users. (S615 sucks)

sad to say.. but google or/and snapdragon is truly behind APPLE.

But not like... The big thing...

AnonD-53653, 15 Oct 2014The design is a dissapointmentNot only the design.
The nexus line (lately) was bringing high end specs on a relatively low price. This phone might be the end of it.

                                        Unrelated:
Why Nexus 9 has only 2 GB of ram and goes with 16/32 GB configurations and not 32/64 GB just like the Nexus 6?(especially with the lack of SD card)
Since they upped the price on the Nexus line it wouldnt hurt to make it truly high end.
