Toshiba TG01 lauching in the UK on 9 July

1 July, 2009
Slowly, but surely the Toshiba TG01 is becoming available through carriers in different countries. By 9 July you could add the UK to the list of lucky countries that have access to the first Snapdragon handset...

and to add to the other message. this for me is the best phone after I spent much time looking around. The hardware cannot be beaten. But with some simple downloads, this phone is the iphone killer. its a pity it didn't come with spb, or kinoma as standard. But yes the battery is a problem if you can't charge everyday. also my tilt works in a second or two, so that issue must have been sorted.

I've got this phone and its very good. But the bad bits, the ui is very bad, the volume without headphones is not too good. The battery life lasts roughly 3 maybe 4 hours of HEAVY use on the fastest settings. The good bits, I've raced many iphone 3gs and my phone is quicker. I've downloaded 2 great user interfaces SPB Mobile shell, and Kinoma, both are excellent. this is a must for this phone. The touch of the screen is smooth. also I've downloaded opera mini and opera mobile. this is MUCH better than ie.

Opening apps faster IS indeed depending on the CPU and the TG01 is unbeliveable fast comnpared to devices like the Touch HD (I got both so I really know what I am talking about).

i think the key in opening apps faster is cache, memory, and bus speed; not necessarily the processor speed. we'll see though, I am drooling over this phone-- nothing very interesting comes US's way

I have been on the look out for this phone but the reviews I have seen on the net so far gives me some doubt. Apart form my initial doubts about the battery power at a paltry 1000mAH, the accerlorimeter seem slow, it took about 5 secs to change,in the iphone 3GS it took a second. On having a look at the iphone 3gs, TG01 specs are basic. I am not an iphone freak but I think toshiba can do better. I will wait until about January to decide whether to buy this phone, i hope by then Toshiba would have corrected any problems and improve on the design / specs. I would see how the battery would perform too. I also hope that the TG01 has something to use to move between open apps without going thru the start button ???? Rumour about TG02 in Q4 2009, is that true ????????

This device is impressive but Toshiba has surprised me. The Japanese are very good @ doing business but this time they got it all wrong. The pricing on this device puts it way out of reach of the people that will make this device water cooler talk or in the mainstream...$ 700 is a bit ridiculous.

                  Anybody think that...

trancehell, 01 Jul 2009...that means Symbian will anticipate your thoughts, runnin... moreIt won't help the menus. Extra processing power usually benefits power intensive 'activities'. E.g. you will not be able to play HD movies on a 370Mhz processor. It doesn't have the processing power to handle that much data simultaneously. 1GHz can but then we switch our focus to RAM which determines how 'clean' the entire device can handle large files. The reason why Windows Mobile keep having this power creep is due to the increasing power intensive uses for the platform. E.g. WM6.5 already mandates a 3"+ screen at a WVGA resolution minimum (800x480) and at least 256MB RAM (not memory but RAM). Imagine what WM7 would require. Probably same screen requiements but higher RAM or minimum processor speed of maybe 600MHz? Who knows.

It needs at least a 1350mAh battery.

So much hype about this phone, but I guess the only reason I think it might be good is becos of the Toshiba,I believe Japanese are tech savy but the new iphone is good and so is the Palm Pre, small but solid. My only doubt about the TG01 is the battery at 1000mAH. Though they are saying the Snadragon is power efficient but I just cant see how you would have all those feature powered by 1000mH ???
