Asus Zenfone 6 update enhances the camera experience

Vlad, 27 May 2019

The Asus Zenfone 6 was unveiled around a couple of weeks ago, and it's already receiving its first software update. This arrives over-the-air as version 16.1210.1904.115.

Once installed, it will improve the performance of both Super Night Mode and HDR++ (aka HDR+ Enhanced mode) in the camera, resulting in better image quality and faster image processing speed.

Volume key controls have also been added to the camera app. With these you can now control the flip camera's rotation, zoom, or capture a photo. You can pick which behavior you prefer in the Asus Camera settings. The smart key can be used as shutter to take pictures when you're in Camera mode too.

The default wallpaper and ringtone have been updated, camera rotation stability has been improved, translation strings in Settings have been optimized, and VoLTE/VoWiFi have been enabled for Taiwanese carriers.

As you'd expect, this is going to be a rollout that progresses slowly, being sent out to different serial numbers in batches. So it may take a few days for the update to reach all Zenfone 6 units. If you want to manually check for its availability, go to Settings > System > System updates.
