WhatsApp now supports one-minute long voice status updates

Vlad, 28 May 2024

WhatsApp has released a new feature today - the ability to record voice status updates that are up to one minute long.

Previously, the app got support for sharing videos up to one minute in length via status updates, and now the same length can be used for voice notes that go into your statuses.

WhatsApp now supports one-minute long voice status updates

Before today, if you wanted to share a voice note to your Status page, it had to be 30 seconds or less. So effectively you have double the time now.

The new feature should be rolling out to the latest version of WhatsApp on both iOS and Android. Note that you may need the latest version of the app not just to create the longer voice notes, but also to listen to them.

WhatsApp recently seems very intent on improving the Status feature, so don't be surprised if new additions will come to it in the future.
