Motorola Edge 50 Neo chipset confirmed, might also get a ThinkPhone version

Yordan, 23 August 2024

Motorola is expected to launch the Edge 50 Neo next month, and the phone was said to have a Dimensity 7300 chipset, according to an online retailer. Today, we received a confirmation that the midranger is really coming with the new Mediatek platform, as it appeared on Geekbench.

We can confirm the 4x2.5 GHz and 4x2.0 GHz core specs, which is the Dimensity 7300, used in the Razr 50 foldable (under the name 7300X). It will be an improvement over the Edge 40 Neo, which had a CPU with two units at 2.5 GHz, and the other six at 2.0 GHz.

The listing also confirmed once again an 8 GB RAM option and Android 14 out of the box, which are less than surprising.

A separate scorecard of a ThinkPhone 25 suggests that Motorola may rebadge the phone under its parent Lenovo brand. The reason for the suspicion is the identical chipset and overall performance results.

A new mid-range ThinkPhone would be most intriguing as the previous one, launched in January 2023, had a premium chipset. It was sold primarily as a B2B product, and we wonder whether the ThinkPhone 25 will also be business-first oriented with this somewhat unimpressive chip.

Wow, if the Thinkphone is actually based on this phone then it'll get quite the downgrade, from flagship-grade specs to this...
