Latest Windows 11 Insiders update brings iPhone integration to the Start menu

Michail, 29 January 2025

Microsoft is testing a new addition for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels, offering better integration for iPhone users. The new addition adds a side panel in the Start menu, allowing you to quickly see your iPhone’s battery status, access messages and calls, as well as a quick toggle for file transfers. These features were already implemented for Android users so it’s nice to see them coming to iOS.

The new features are gradually rolling out to Windows 11 users running the latest Insider Preview Build 4805 or higher in the Beta channel and also require Phone Link version 1.24121.30.0 or higher. Connected PCs must support Bluetooth LE and an active Microsoft account for this to work. Microsoft is expected to bring this new feature to regular Windows 11 builds in the coming months.

I like the idea of the side panel/bar in the Start menu.
