Nothing Phone (3a) Pro in for review

Ivan, 07 March 2025

In typical Nothing fashion, the Phone (3a) Pro made waves on social media and tech media weeks before the phone was official. And it made it all the more desirable.

But all the hype in the world comes to nothing if the phone isn't good enough. Well, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is all the phone you'd ever really need.

Here's an unboxing - you get a USB-C cable - a simple one without transparent bits. You'd need to supply your own case and charger - the Phone (3a) Pro takes 50W, though interestingly, the maker only sells a 45W charger on its website.

The Nothing Phone (3a), seen here on the left, is nearly identical to its Pro counterpart. The only difference is the camera system - the Pro has a nicer 70mm f/2.6 zoom and a higher-end 50MP selfie camera. The non-Pro isn't all bad, though, with a 50mm f/2.0 zoom of its own, and a 32MP selfie camera.

And we find the regular phone fancier in its exclusive Blue paint job to the Pro's business-attire Black and Gray.

The zoom is a good enough reason to choose the Pro. The price difference isn't huge - matched at 12/256GB (except for the Indian model, which is 8/128GB), the Pro is just £70/$80/€80/INR 9,000 more than the Phone (3a). We think fans of smartphone photography should spend the extra for the better zoom camera.

We had a quick look at the cameras of both the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro in Barcelona so check them out as an appetizer before we finish our full review. And stay tuned for that!
