Samsung tells the "design story" of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6

This past Wednesday Samsung unveiled its newest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Flip6. Today the company has released its "design story" for the duo, letting us know how they were designed and what the purpose of the design changes is. So let's dive in.

Samsung says they both "embody modern, sleek design", and "through their simple, solid exterior and linear form, these devices express what Galaxy's design identity is all about", whatever that means.

New for this generation is what Samsung calls Floating Design. This "distinctive and impactful design element" makes it "seem like the foldables' screens float above their bodies when viewed from the side". When they're folded, the "bold line" along the side "accentuates their sleek, linear form", and facilitates easier opening too.

The Fold6 is "more user-friendly than ever" thanks to its reduced length and increased width, and it also comes with "a refreshing new look" with almost symmetrical corners. Samsung says the Fold6 "stands out as the slimmest and lightest among all Galaxy Z Fold models to date", which is true but the key point there is among all Galaxy Z Fold models. Honor's just-unveiled Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 are in a whole different league in terms of slimness, let's not forget.

The Fold6's "balanced design" ensures "maximum comfort", Samsung thinks, and again, compared to previous Galaxy Z Folds, that's probably true - although we'll have to test for ourselves how the sharp corners feel in-hand with day-to-day use.

Both the Fold6 and the Flip6 have a "signature linear camera layout" which "takes center stage" to differentiate them from their predecessors. The Fold6 adds "a bold camera decoration" underneath that further highlights the individual camera circles.

Meanwhile, the Flip6's camera design "exudes the vibrant, bubbly spirit" of the series with a camera decoration designed to match the available body colors, making it instantly recognizable (as otherwise it looks pretty much identical to the Flip5, we might add).

Regarding the colors themselves, Samsung says "each hue in this series evokes joyful moments connecting with nature". The built-in wallpapers "seamlessly blend into the devices' exterior aesthetics" too, and are adapted "to the visual cues conveyed by each device's color, bringing it to life".

The wallpaper also "responds interactively depending on the angle of the display, turning the simple act of folding and unfolding into moments of joy". The company concludes its "design story" by saying that these two models "herald a new beginning for the Galaxy Z series with designs that focus on the essence of what they are", making them "poised to shape the future of foldables", which sounds like wishful thinking.

Speaking of wishes, Samsung wants to sell 10% more of these compared to the Fold5 and Flip5 last year, let's see how that goes. In the meantime, if you want to learn more about the Fold6 and Flip6, take a look at our hands-on review.

Design story? Lol! These Koreans really know how to make a joke. The most hilarious part is when seeing a lot of people proudly queueing up for hours to buy during the launch.

Well exactly.
