The Poco series brings two new 5G models to the Indian market – a mid-ranger from the M-series and an entry-level phone from the C-series. Both are already up on Flipkart for pre-order.

The Poco M7 Pro 5G is based on the Dimensity 7025 Ultra, a 6nm chip with two Cortex-A78 (2.5GHz) and six A55 (2.0GHz) cores. It can be configured with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. The phone launches with HyperOS (based on Android 14) and will receive 2 OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

The display is quite different from what was on the M6 Pro 5G. The new model features a 6.67” FHD+ OLED with 120Hz refresh rate. It’s protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and now sits on top of the fingerprint reader (previously, the reader was mounted on the side).

The cameras are a solid upgrade. The rear module is built around the 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor and boasts an impressive lens for the class – a bright f/1.5 aperture with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and electronic too (EIS). Unfortunately, it is limited to 1080p @ 30fps. The front-facing camera has a 20MP sensor and a wider lens (“0.8x”, however, we don’t know the exact focal length). There’s no ultra wide lens on the back, though.

The Poco M7 Pro 5G has stereo speakers on board with a volume boost option. Additionally, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster on top. On the bottom is the USB-C port capable of charging the 5,110mAh battery at 45W. For comparison, the M6 Pro 5G could only do 18W.

The phone has a dual tone design and its body measures 7.99mm thick and weighs 190g. It is rated IP64 (dust tight, splash resistance against water).

The Poco M7 Pro 5G is available in Lavender Frost, Lunar Dust and Olive Twilight. The 6/128GB model can be pre-ordered from Flipkart for ₹15,000, while the 8/256GB upgrade is ₹17,000.

The Poco C75 5G should not be confused with the 4G-only C75, though they do share many features. The key upgrade is, of course, the 5G connectivity provided by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2. This 4nm chip also has two Cortex-A78 cores (2.0GHz) and six A55 (1.8GHz), but the lower clock speeds promise lower performance. The phone is configured with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, but it also has a microSD slot for up to 1TB more (the slot is dedicated).

Like its 4G sibling, this phone has a large 6.88” LCD with HD+ resolution that runs at 120Hz. Notched into it is a basic 5MP camera. The rear camera has a 50MP Sony sensor and is capable of 1080p @ 30fps video recording.

Inside the 8.22mm, 205g body is a 5,160mAh battery with 18W charging. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on top (but no IR blaster).

The specs are perfect. The only thing that's bad that's the cheap OLED screen that's mediocre at best. If it had an excellent IPS LCD screen I would seriously consider buying it. Price is good too. What more do you expect for $170. T...

No ultrawide on the Redmi note 14 5g either in China (just a 2mp depth sensor) so the M7 pro 5g seems basically the same as that. Also starts with 6gb ram and 128gb storage in China. It's the same I think apart from the rear cover
