vivo X200 Ultra now rumored not to make it out of China after all

Vlad, 12 March 2025

The saga of whether vivo will officially sell the upcoming X200 Ultra outside of China has turned into quite a rollercoaster ride recently. We've heard that the phone would stay confined to the Chinese market months ago, then yesterday a report from India said it might make it to India as vivo India was pushing vivo HQ to make that happen.

Today a tipster over on X claims that the X200 Ultra will not in fact be available in India, as allegedly confirmed by an unnamed "vivo team member".

Of course none of this is official in any way, so do keep that in mind - not the first rumor, not the one from yesterday, not today's. They're all rumors and nothing more, so things could still turn out differently.

But given Chinese smartphone makers' (with the exception of Xiaomi in recent times) propensity to keep their Ultra flagships for the Chinese market alone, it naturally wouldn't surprise us to see the same thing happen to the X200 Ultra. And of course it's a shame, since it means that most of the globe won't have the option of picking the X200 Ultra or the Find X8 Ultra over the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or Galaxy S25 Ultra or iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Huawei wasn't banned due to their smartphones, but their telecommunications solutions and infrastructure products. This due to fear of espionage and/or potential for sabotage. Xiaomi makes consumer products, not cell towers etc.

Yeah! we shall blame it on the import duty tax, paperworks and lots of regulatory req. that cost them a fortune which of course will be billed to the customer.

Why isn't Xiaomi banned like Huawei? They are better than Samsung and Apple. Xiaomi makes global versions.
