Vodafone launches 5.5-inch Smart Ultra 6 phablet for £125

19 June, 2015

In the pretty competitive market of own-brand smartphones from UK-based operators, Vodafone might have just scored - bigtime. The company nicknamed Big Red has introduced the Smart Ultra 6 today, which is a phablet that comes with some very good specs considering you can grab one on Pay as you go for just £125.

It's made by ZTE and based on the Chinese company's Blade S6 Plus model, but with a higher-res screen. Speaking of which, the Smart Ultra 6 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display.

It's also got a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP selfie snapper, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery. It's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 SoC, which boasts an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU that can go up to 1.5 GHz.

Amazingly, the phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop according to Vodafone's official specs. That said, the blog post announcing it says it's got Android 5.0 on board, so at least it's clear that it sports Lollipop - which exact version is still a bit of a mystery.

You can also get the Smart Ultra 6 on Pay Monthly plans, where it's free when paired with a bundle that costs at least £17.

Apparently you can buy codes for the ZTE S6 Blade on ebay and they will work with this phone as the phone is built by them
