Flash Plus 2 goes official, to cost $160 in Asia

Kaloyan, 18 May, 2016

Alcatel (owned by TLC) has been very consistent with the Flash brand. The first Alcatel Flash went official back in September 2014 while the Flash 2 was announced a year later in September 2015. The Flash Plus model, an expansion of the original Flash, was introduced in May 2015 and this May we are getting its refresh with the Flash Plus 2.

The new model is not under the Alcatel branding anymore, the Flash lineup will continue as a separate product on the mobile market. Here is more information on the matter:

"The independence of the Flash brand means we have entered a complete new stage of development. What remains unchanged is that we will consistently follow the mission of Flash at its birth and stay connected with the young Internet consumers who enjoy sharing and pursue quality. We will get to know their specific needs through continuous interaction to create high-quality smart hardware that is fun and enjoyable, offering the users a lifestyle of seeking our true selves" - states Albert Wong, General Manager of Flash 3C Limited.

Enough with the history lesson, though. The Flash Plus 2 is an all-metal smartphone, which is great news for a mid-ranger. It features a 5.5" 1080p display and runs on the Helio P10 chipset with an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor (4x 1.8GHz + 4x 1.0GHz) and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. You can get the Flash Plus 2 with 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM, or 32GB memory and 3GB of RAM.

The Flash Plus 2 also comes with a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP selfie snapper with a LED flash, a microSD card slot, a fingerprint scanner, a 3,000 mAh battery, and it supports LTE connectivity and dual-SIM telephony. Android Marshmallow is in charge of operations.

The Flash Plus 2 will be available in Luna Silver and Venus Gold flavors and will launch in Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. There is no word on other markets, though.

The suggested pricing for the Flash Plus 2 is $160 for the 16GB/2GB RAM model and $190 for the 32GB/3GB RAM variant.
