Over 3 million people register to buy a Meizu m3e in the first 24 hours

Yesterday Meizu unveiled the m3e, its latest smartphone in the m-series (also known as Blue Charm in China). In a similar fashion to all of its predecessors, the phone pairs decent specs with a decent design and a great price. Hence, it's not difficult to see why it would be pretty successful.

And that it undoubtedly is, even now, before it actually goes on sale. In less than 24 hours since its launch, the Meizu m3e has received more than 3 million registrations in China. The registration window will close on August 13, and the handset will see its first flash sale on August 14.

If you want to buy one, you have to go through the registration process, but this is not a pre-order because no money is exchanged. Once you're registered you can participate in the flash sale, and that's when you actually pay for the device. So while the 3 million registrations number is a lot less impressive than having 3 million pre-orders, this still means a lot of people find the Meizu m3e interesting enough to at least think about buying one.

The Meizu m3e starts at CNY 1,299 ($196 or €175 at the current exchange rates). It has a 5.5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 5 MP selfie snapper, the MediaTek Helio P10 SoC (with a 1.8 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, and a 3,100 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop underneath Meizu's Flyme 5.2.1.
