Google+ account no longer required to write reviews on Play Store

Himanshu, 14 August, 2016

A couple of days after there were reports that the Play Store no longer requires you to have a Google+ profile to write reviews, Google has confirmed the change. "A G+ profile is no longer needed to post a review," the company said.

It's worth mentioning that the change may not be available to everyone just yet as it's still rolling out.

This comes over an year after Google disconnected Google+ from YouTube. "People have told us that accessing all of their Google stuff with one account makes life a whole lot easier," the company had said at that time. "But we’ve also heard that it doesn’t make sense for your Google+ profile to be your identity in all the other Google products you use."

In case you don't already know, Vic Gundotra, the father of Google+ left the project as well as the company back in April 2014. He worked for Google for close to eight years.
