Xiaomi setting up another assembly unit in India

Himanshu, 07 September, 2016

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, which already has an assembly plant in India, is setting up another unit in the country. The second plant is also located in Sri City (in the state of Andhra Pradesh), and has been set up in collaboration with Foxconn, just like the first one.

Spread across 65,000 sq ft, the new unit has begun operating, but is yet to attain full capacity, which is likely to be over two million units a quarter. It will double the company's production capacity in the country, making Xiaomi the fourth top local phone producer after Samsung, Micromax, and Intex.
