October security patch starts hitting Samsung Galaxy A8, J7 Prime, and Core Prime

Samsung has started pushing out the latest Android security update to some of its smartphones. Specifically, the Galaxy A8, J7 Prime, and Core Prime have started receiving the update which brings along Android security patch for the month of October.

As you can see in the screenshot below - which shows the build.prop files of the handsets - the update bumps the security level to October 1 (2016-10-01).

Given that the roll out has just begun, it may take time for the update notification to pop up on your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for the update by heading to your handset's Settings menu.
