Google Assistant goes head to head with Siri in the latest MKBHD video

With the Pixel, Google is also entering the world of virtual assistants. While Google Now was a clever search engine, Google Assistant is Google’s first real shot at a virtual engine along the same lines as Siri and Cortana.

The question is, how well does it fare against Siri. After all, Google is positioning the Pixel squarely against the Siri and while Apple doesn’t quite market Siri as the main draw for the iPhone quite the same way as Google is with the Pixel, it would still make for an interesting comparison.

And that’s exactly what happened. In a video by Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, Siri and Google Assistant were put through the same set of questions. The end results were bit interesting.

For what it’s worth, I personally didn’t expect Siri to do as well as it did here, because it has historically not worked super well for me. Both assistants had their ups and downs. Siri voice replies were brief and the focus was on the info cards that it showed, which are super attractive compared to the barebones white cards that Google shows. Siri is also conversational to an extent but that is something that really is the strength of Google Assistant. Google also likes to read out the entire card, which makes it the better choice when you can’t actually look at the screen, like while driving or if the phone is not directly in front of you. Google Assistant also, obviously, works a lot better if you use Google services a lot and it uses a lot of info from them to provide better personalized search results.

Overall though, they came out super close in this particular comparison. That’s been it. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you in the next article. Peace.

Why compare it to the 2nd best? Why not put it head to head with Cortana?
