Google PhotoScan update brings along ability to turn off glare removal

Himanshu, 20 April 2017

Google has started pushing out an update to its PhotoScan app that was launched in November last year. The update - which is hitting both Android and iOS clients of the app - brings along a couple of changes, including the ability to turn off glare removal.

"PhotoScan already removes glare from scanned photos, making the process of preserving your printed memories less complicated," Google says in a blog post. "Yet sometimes, the lighting is just right, and there’s no glare present. For those moments, you can now turn off glare removal and scan in one step."

Even with glare removal turned off, users will continue having to access to other key features like cropping, edge detection, image straightening, and rotating to the correct orientation.

The other change the update brings along is the ability to share your scans right from within the app.

I dunno about you but this app makes it nicer for me, just like if you put it in a scanner.

Dont see any difference between so called photo SCAN and simple taking picture of an old photo.
