T-Mobile and Verizon Galaxy S8/S8+ receive updates

Himanshu, 22 April 2017

The T-Mobile and Verizon variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have started receiving an update. The update arrives as version G950USQU1AQD9 for the S8, and version G955USQU1AQD9 for the Plus variant.

As for what it includes, the respective software update pages on the magenta carrier's website don't reveal much, except saying the update brings along "various system improvements."

On the other hand, Verizon's website provides some details. It says all apps have been optimized for the new Infinity Screen and there's a new Settings option to answer incoming calls by simply pressing the volume up button. The icon for Camera app has been updated, and there are some Notification Badge related changes as well.

Yeah, this would be the update where you say goodbye to your capability to reassign the Bixby hardware button to something that is actually useful.
