Xiaomi launches Redmi 4 in India

Prasad, 16 May 2017

Ten months after the launch of the Redmi 3S Prime, Xiaomi has launched its successor, the Redmi 4, in India.

The differences between the Redmi 3S Prime and the Redmi 4 are mostly cosmetic. The new phone has slimmer, tapered edges and a cleaner, more contemporary design. The speaker has been moved from the back to the bottom of the phone and the metal and aluminum meet in cleaner anodized high-gloss aluminum lines.

On the inside, the two phones are largely the same. There is the same 5.0-inch 720p LCD on the front, a 13 megapixel f2.0 camera on the back with PDAF, a 5 megapixel f2.2 camera on the front, and 4100mAh battery that Xiaomi claims gives two days of usage. What's changed is that the Snapdragon 430 on the Redmi 3S Prime has been upgraded to Snapdragon 435 on the Redmi 4. It also comes in three variants with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage with 2GB, 3GB and 4GB memory configurations, respectively.

The Remi 4 runs on MIUI 8 with a special preview version of Android Nougat.

The Redmi 4 is priced at INR 6,999, 8,999 and 10,999 for the 2/16GB, 3/32GB, and 4/64GB variants, respectively.

The phone will be available on May 23 at noon on Mi.com and Amazon India.
