Samsung Pay for Gear S2 and Gear S3 in the UK finally available

Yordan, 23 May 2017

The UK was waiting for a long time to get Samsung Pay and last week it finally arrived. Last Tuesday Samsung announced all Galaxy smartphones that are supporting the feature can use it in the UK, and now the Gear S2 and Gear S3 join them.

Gear S2 and Gear S3 owners who are also customers of MBNA, Nationwide, Amex or Santander will be able to make payments with Samsung Pay. If you own a Gear S3, your device utilizes MST, and you will have no trouble paying at traditional credit card readers, but the Gear S2 Classic and the Gear S2 Sport are NFC-only, so its either an NFC terminal or no Samsung Pay through your smartwatch at all.

If you don’t have the app, you can download it from the Google Play Store or Samsung’s in-house Galaxy Apps Store.

I have just checked (yet again) with Samsung and Samsung Pay in NOT available in the UK on the Gear S3 at the moment and they did not have a date to give me as to when it would be. I guess the original article was written from a Samsung press release...
