iPhone 8 dummy assembled, shown off on video

Peter, 29 June 2017

We’ve seen the metal frame and the glass panels of the iPhone 8, but we’re yet to see the finished product.

Well, what do we have here? Here’s the quote: “The device shown in this video is manufactured via CNC process. It is based upon 3D CAD sourced directly from the factory in charge of building the new iPhone.”

So it won’t power on so that we can see how that earpiece cuts into the display on top. What happens to the screen around it? The Essential phone just nudged notifications to the side, will the iPhone 8 do the same?

What you can see are the dimensions of the handset – 143.5 x 71.0 x 7.5 mm. The dual camera hump pushes out a bit further and measures 9.1mm thick. Surprisingly, the camera is not one of the components that are reportedly giving Apple headaches.

And, as the video description warns, things may not be 100% finalized. The location of the fingerprint reader in particular is uncertain.
