New Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ update brings faster face recognition

Himanshu, 30 August 2017

Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ units on Verizon have started getting a new update that brings along a lot of changes. The update arrives as version NRD90M.G950USQU1AQGL for the S8 and NRD90M.G955USQU1AQGL for the S8+.

One of the major changes the update includes is a new 'Faster recognition' option in the Face Recognition menu. When enabled, the option lets users unlock their device instantly, although security is compromised.

Moving on, the next change is related to that small, round lock/unlock button that was introduced in the previous update as a way to turn off the navigation bar. Basically, with the new update, users will have to double tap that button (instead of a single tap) to make it do its work.

Then there's a minor Always On Display (AOD)-related change. It's basically an adjustment to prevent instances where an alarm related notification does not appear on the AOD while device is idle.

The update also includes a couple of fixes, related to Bluetooth and Bixby, as well as updates to a couple of apps. For B2B enterprise customers, the update brings along Knox and VPN-related changes. Head to the Source links below for the complete change-log.
