Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+ all get November security patches in Canada

In Canada, Samsung's Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+ are now all receiving a new software update, which brings with it the November security fixes. The S6 and S6 edge have been graced with the same update in other territories since last week, but it's the first time that an S6 edge+ variation receives this treatment. Obviously we expect S6 edge+ units sold elsewhere to start getting these fixes in the near future too.

The new build number for the Canadian Galaxy S6 is G920W8VLS5DQK1. In the case of the S6 edge it's G925W8VLS5DQK1, and for the S6 edge+ you'll see G928W8VLS4CQK1. Don't expect anything other than the latest security updates to be in, and possibly some bug fixes. After installing the new software, your device will be on the November 1, 2017 security patch level.

The November security update fixes 61 Android vulnerabilities, an additional six that are unique to Samsung handsets, as well as the infamous KRACK Wi-Fi exploit. If you're in Canada and haven't received the update notification yet, you can manually check by using the appropriate field in Settings > Software update. Note that this update is being rolled out by carriers including Bell, Telus, SaskTel, and Virgin Mobile.
