Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus surface again, come with Snapdragon chipsets

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will arrive tomorrow. We already know how the phone will look, how it most likely will cost. Most of the specs were leaked on TENAA, while the MIUI 9 was announced by the company.

Some of the specs were double-confirmed by a live photo which also revealed the Snapdragon chipset that will power the Redmi 5 phones.

The Redmi 5 will arrive with 5.7” screen with the popular FullView display with 18:9 ratio. The chipset will be Snapdragon 450 - a 14nm process unit with octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The camera on the back will be 12 MP.

The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a taller 5.99” display and Snapdragon 625. It has virtually the same architecture as the 450, but it supports 4K video. We are yet to see if the Plus version will record in Ultra HD, once the devices are announced tomorrow.

The 625 was introduced early last year, but you won't be getting anything better than 8xA53 cores (clocked at very decent 2GHz) in an entry level device anyway. It ticks all the other boxes that you'd expect too (all the modern features sans NFC), so...

Nope, Redmi Note 5 is on it's way, expected January or early February, to be launch before Chinese lunar new year.
