According to a new report, Google is planning to open physical stores in India, a move that's aimed at boosting the sales of Pixel phones in the Asian country. The brick and mortar stores, or "experience centers," could be launched towards the latter half of 2018.

Google Pixel and Pixel 2 India stores

The Mountain View, California-based company had recently set up pop-up stores in malls across the country to showcase features of new Pixel 2 phones. They even created a dark room at some locations, to show how good the recent flagships are when it comes to low-light photography.

And the consumer response was better than expected, reportedly encouraging the company to think about opening dedicated physical stores in the country. The report notes representatives from a couple of malls have confirmed they have received requests from the company to setup outlets.

In addition to smartphones, the stores will also carry other Google products like Home smart speakers, Chromecast devices, Pixel laptops, and Daydream VR headsets. When reached for comment, Google said, "We don’t comment on any rumours or speculation."
