OnePlus 3 and 3T get OxygenOS 5.0.1 with aptX HD, Soft screen calibration

Peter, 12 January 2018

OnePlus 3 and 3T owners were greeted with an update notification this morning – Oxygen OS 5.0.1 has arrived. The full update weighs 1.47GB, though you only need to download a tenth of that if you’re already on 5.0.0.

Audiophiles who are also wire-phobes will appreciate the addition of aptX HD (aka aptX Lossless). It transmits high-quality audio at up to 48 kHz sampling rates and resolutions up to 24 bits.

Another change is the Soft screen calibration. It dials back the color saturation compared to default mode while the white balance stays fairly cool (compared to the warm whites of sRGB).

The OnePlus 3T (but not the 3) also got support for Airtel’s VoLTE. Further additions include Wi-Fi hotspot device manager and general bug fixes and stability improvements.

This update brings the Android security patch up to December. You should get a notification for the update (and if you haven’t, hit the Check for updates button).

sorre 4 the correction but.. in the post this caught my attention: it says.: "aptX HD aka aptX Lossless" I think aptX Lossless must be twice times better than aptX HD
