Xiaomi Mi 6X may use a Helio P60 chipset, an upgraded Redmi Note 5 Pro camera

Peter, 10 April 2018

The Xiaomi Mi 6X – likely the same hardware as the Mi A2 – has gone back to the rumor mill to clarify a few things. When it went through TENAA, we knew it would be powered by an octa-core processor, but what kind we couldn’t tell. Then later a leak pointed the finger at Snapdragon 626/636.

And here’s the latest rumor on the matter, which claims that actually the chipset is a Helio P60. That would be a fine alternative to the S835 as the P60 is has four Cortex-A73 cores, though the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU can’t touch the Adreno. No matter, this should be a mid-range device, with the Mi 7 coming in as the new flagship (Snapdragon 845, in-display fingerprint reader, the 7 will have all the goodies).

Moving on, we may know the camera setup of the Xiaomi Mi 6X / Mi A2. The rear camera on the back will be upgraded compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The main shooter of the rear dual camera is still an IMX 486 (12 MP, 1.25 µm), but it’s paired with a higher resolution IMX 376 (20 MP, 1.0 µm) secondary sensor. The selfie camera will use another IMX 376.

Additional specs for the Mi 6X / Mi A2 include a 5.99” screen of 1080p+ resolution, 4GB + 64GB memory and a 2,910mAh battery. As for the software, the global A2 should be an Android One phone while the China-bound 6X should run MIUI.
