Apple iTunes now available on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10

Apple has finally released the iTunes desktop client for Windows on the Microsoft Store, after announcing it in March of last year. Those on Windows 10 can head over to the store to download the app right now for free.

Yup, it looks the same

For those wondering, no, this isn't any different from the standard Windows client. It doesn't look any different and it certainly doesn't work any different. It's not even a UWP compliant app. If you already have the apple.com version installed then there is hardly any reason to install this.

Still, it's a good thing overall. Not everybody is comfortable or even aware that you can download applications from outside the Store. This should be convenient for people who get all their applications from the Microsoft Store. It's also the only way for users on the Window 10 S to get iTunes as you cannot install applications from outside the store on that version.

So all in all, it's a good thing, even if Apple may have put in the least amount of effort possible into making it.

Ah, this actually pretty helpful.

I was talking about the update notification. I doubt iTunes will ask and try and force me to update it as it will now be automatically updated via the Microsoft Store.

This actually doesn't have any of the background services running anymore like "bonjour" and receives auto updates. So it's still an advantage over the older app which requires all the background services.
