Weekly poll: OnePlus 6 - hot or not?

Ro, 20 May 2018

The OnePlus 6 is finally out, but is it everything you hoped it would be. It's not the most far-reaching upgrade over the OnePlus 5T, but then again there wasn't too much wrong with the previous flagship and that one only came out six months ago so we couldn't expect much more.

The most controversial part is of course the notch, which is the key visual difference compared to the outgoing model. However, it let a larger display with slightly higher resolution fit in what is essentially the same footprint.

Another noticeable change is the design of the back, where the OnePlus 6 follows another trend of glass builds this year. The back features Gorilla Glass 5 back panel and aluminum side frame. It is a bit grippier than its predecessors with anodized aluminum panels, yet it also carries all the disadvantages of the glass - it's a fingerprint magnet, especially the black version, and it's considerably more fragile. Strangely enough OnePlus didn't take advantage of the glass to enable wireless charging.

The camera setup is an upgraded version of what the 5T brought. It has two sensors on the back - 16MP (f/1.7, 27mm) + 20MP (f/1.7, 1.0µm) aided by OIS, EIS and dual-LED flash. The main sensor is larger now and the OnePlus 6 offers 4K@60 fps video recording. Yet, somewhat disappointingly the secondary unit is still very similar to the first one, not offering wide-angle or telephoto lens.

And last, but arguably most important, OnePlus has been steadily increasing the price of their devices with the OnePlus 6 following suit and setting a record for the most expensive one yet. Still it's rate of increase is far from its competition and the latest flagship costs less than half of an iPhone X in Europe. It would be hard to describe this as anything but a bargain.

So what's your take on the matter - is the OnePlus 6 a worthy member of what is one of the most iconic smartphone lineups lately? Or is OnePlus losing the plot?

It's long not a flagship killer, but for the price you get a lot, still would choose Samsung older flagship model than this, cause they offer more and better quality features and no stupid notches

What you need or don't doesn't matter.. When you are comparing 2 phones atleast compare the versions with the same internal memory.. Cos microsd is NOT the same performance as internal mem..

Maybe they don't need the extra RAM (who need 8GB in their smartphone) but do value a better camera, IP certification, USB 3.0 (aka "the speed they need") and a myrad of other goodies (such as making sense of the glass build by having wireless chargi...
