Google Duo update brings screen sharing, but it doesn't work yet

Google has started rolling out a new update to its Duo video calling app, bumping the version to 34. The update brings along a major feature: ability to share your device's screen with the one you're talking to.

To access the feature, just tap on the screen sharing icon (that circle containing a phone logo), and you'll be prompted to permit the functionality.

Once you allow, your phone's home screen will pop up with a red border around it (which indicates the area being shared) and options to pause and stop screen sharing.

Cool, isn't it? Except that it's not working at all. The feature is completely broken, with some reports saying all the receiver sees is a frozen image of your screen, while others say the receiver encountered a gray frame instead.
