10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 focuses on AR and AI

Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 700 series back in February and it's now making the first of the two chipsets to lead the lineup official. The Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform, as Qualcomm calls it, sits above the Snapdragon 660 and below the Snapdragon 835 and 845, aiming to trickle flagship functionality down to midrangers.

The Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform is built on an efficient 10nm process and uses the new Kryo 360 CPU.

The new SoC brings a multi-core AR Engine for on-device neural network processing and a Spectra 250 image signal processor that can perform multi-frame noise reduction in images. The new ISP has the necessary AI smarts to perform depth sensing for portrait mode shots with faux bokeh.

The Snapdragon 710 promises 40% better power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 660 and offers support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ technology with around 50% in 15 minutes of charging.

The new X15 LTE modem promises download up to 800 Mbps - not quite gigabit but close. The 4X4 MIMO antenna support ensures data connection will be fast and steady.

Qualcomm partners already have access to the new Snapdragon 710 and the first phones to use it are due in the second quarter of the year, so basically any moment now.
