Paul, 26 June 2018

Apple just released the first Public Beta of iOS 12 for those among you eager to go hands-on with the latest features that Apple is bringing to your iPhone, iPad and 6th generation iPod touch.

iOS 12, announced earlier this month at WWDC brings a bunch of new features, key among which are:

  • Improved performance, especially on older devices
  • Grouped Notifications for greatly improved Notification management
  • Screen Time, see how long you use your device and for what. Set limits on yours or your kids usage
  • Enhanced Do Not Disturb

More details on iOS 12 features can be found here.

In order to install the iOS 12 Public Beta, either login or sign up to the Apple Beta Software Program.

Once completed you will then be able to download and install the iOS 12 Public Beta Software Profile, following a reboot you're then ready to install iOS 12 via Settings>General>Software Update.

We praised iOS 12's stability and reliably during our recent iOS 12 Hands-on of the Developer Beta 2. Even so, we can't in good conscience recommend that you download the Public Beta on your daily iPhone or iPad. As always, before proceeding backup your iDevice.

iOS 12 will be released later this year following the launch of this years iPhones in September and will be available for the iPhone 5s or later, iPad mini 2 or later, iPad Air or later and the 6th generation iPod touch.

Still, the gray area is about battery life improvement? is there any improvements made in battery life rather than just showing the battery consumptions status???

How's battery life? The very first beta consumed too much electricity :)

You need to delete the old profile for iOS 11 betas, then go to Apple's website for betas and register with your Apple ID for iOS 12 betas. Install the iOS 12 betas profile and you are ready to go.
