Nokia 6.1 Plus pops up on Geekbench days before the official global launch

Ro, 14 July 2018

After HMD Global released the Nokia X6 in China, pure Android fans were fast to express their disappointment of the fact that the phone won't make it outside of China. However, shortly after that, Juho Sarvikas announced that the handset will be hitting the global market, due to the positive response from the fans.

Ever since, we have been waiting for its official global release, until last week, a solid report revealed that we can expect the device to begin its global rollout on July 19 with the first stop being Hong Kong. Now, A Geekbench listing confirms the launch, once again.

So far, we know that the handset will debut under a different name - 6.1 Plus and will sport identical hardware to its Chinese counterpart, with the only difference being the software. While the Chinese X6 variant runs Nokia's custom overlay, the 6.1 Plus will come with pure Android, like the rest of the globally available Nokia phones.

But while the Geekbench score sheet lists 4GB of RAM, we expect the 6GB model to also step outside of China. Hopefully, the July 19 launch isn't yet another rumor, but an actual release date, when we will finally see the handset leave Asia.
