Yordan, 08 August 2018

The number 8 is considered lucky in China and today, on the eighth day of the eighth month, Xiaomi, a company that is 8 years old, announced the vanilla Mi 8 will be launched in a version with 8 GB RAM, becoming the second phone of the portfolio with so much memory after the Mi 8 Explorer. And if you think you had enough eights, here’s some more - the device is launched at 8 PM in Beijing, China, which is GMT+8 for all the followers abroad.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 might arrive with more RAM, but all the other specs remain the same - 6.21” tall screen with a notch, Snapdragon 845 and dual 12 MP+12MP cameras on the back. The announcement from Xiaomi, posted on Weibo, does not reveal the storage on the phone, so let’s hope it is at least 128 GB since the device does not have microSD reader.

Xiaomi announced the Mi 8 on the same day the MIUI 10 was introduced, but the phone arrives with MIUI 9.5 in the box, based on Android Oreo 8.0. There is a 3,400 mAh battery and a USB-C port, with a grill speaker keeping them company on the bottom. The 8 GB version is expected to cost anywhere between CNY2,699 and CNY3,299 - the current price tags of the cheapest and most expensive Mi 8 on the market.
