Archos Access 57 is an €80 Android Go Edition phone with a 5.7" screen

Archos unveiled its first Android Oreo Go Edition phone and it’s a big one – the Archos Access 57 packs a 5.7” screen. It will be available in October at the low price of €80 (that’s just under $95). As you can imagine given the price, the specs are fairly modest.

We start with the screen – it has 480 x 960px resolution. Far from the sharpest, but at least it offers a modern 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Spreadtrum SC9832E chipset with a quad-core processor (1.4GHz) and 1GB of RAM.

The storage will depend on the connectivity. The Access 57 is a dual SIM phone with either 4G connectivity (16GB storage) or 3G (8GB). There is a microSD card slot rated at up to 64GB.

The phone offers an 8MP camera on its back (with 1080p video recording) and a 2MP selfie camera.

The battery is a bit of a letdown – it has 2,400mAh capacity and it will be charged by the included 0.6A microUSB charger. It promises 15 hours of talk time and 80 hours of standby. And it is user-replaceable.

Here’s something else that might cheer you up – there’s a 3.5mm jack on board and an FM radio. At €80, we can’t expect much more, can we?

Nice to see an Android Go device with a big screen. A user replaceable battery is a great thing too.

That is THE worst resolution. And I thought my old phones 5.5" 540p screen was bad......
