Nikon announces D3500 DSLR for $499

Nikon has launched a new entry-level DSLR, the Nikon D3500, which replaced its previous model, the D3400, that was launched two years ago.

The D3500 isn't remarkably different from its predecessor but does feature some notable changes. It has a different design that is both smaller and lighter than the D3400. The battery performance has also improved, and the D3500 is now capable of 1550 shots on a single charge.

The price has also been reduced. The D3500 with a single AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR kit lens will be available for $499. A dual kit lens including AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED can be purchased for $849.

The rest of the camera is very similar to the D3400. It has a 24.2 megapixel DX-format sensor with 11-point AF system and an ISO range of 100-25,600. The camera is also capable of recording 1080p video at 60fps. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to transfer your photos to your smartphone or trigger shutter wirelessly using the Nikon SnapBridge app.

The Nikon D3500 will be available in September.
