Huawei's first foldable phone will also be its first 5G smartphone

Huawei and Samsung are in a competition to release the first foldable smartphone and Huawei’s Ken Hu just upped the ante – Huawei’s first foldable phone will also be its first 5G-capable phone.

And it will arrive earlier than expected with a mid-2019 launch (at a previous event Huawei promised its first 5G phone for the second half of 2019). Sub-brand Honor also has a 5G phone in the works.

Anyway, Hu highlighted the three major use cases for 5G: faster mobile broadband, lower latency and the Internet of Things.

Samsung’s CEO confirmed that a foldable phone will launch before the end of the year. The company also unveiled a 5G modem modem, which should also reach consumers by the end of the year (though it’s not clear if the foldable phone will be 5G-enabled or if they will be separate products).

Well Samsung foldable can end as Note 7 series. They ignore all criteria just make and done. Instead of Huawei which will do a lots of testing before final release.

I do not have any problems with notch. However to have a notch and huge bottom bezel with physical button - that is absurd. I had P20 Pro and I confess that it was ugly to me. I got it for camera which was not as good as they hyped it. It made everyt...

Isn't Mate 20 technically the first 5G phone seems Kirin 980 is said to be 5G ready?
