Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) listed on TENAA

Victor, 20 October 2018

Usefulness, justification and your personal feelings on the matter aside, the Galaxy A9 (2018) officially holds the "the world's first quad camera smartphone" title and for better or worse has its sales pitch all lined up out of the gate. Now, all that remains is for Samsung to expand availability further and hope the hook works. The process is clearly already in motion, since the "SM-A9200" is now listed on TENAA.

This, naturally, means that its release in China is imminent. In case you missed the official announcement from a few days ago, here are some basic specs on the Galaxy A9 (2018):

  • Body: Glass back, metal frame; 162.5 x 77 x 7.8mm, 183g
  • Display: 6.3" Super AMOLED, FullHD+, 18.5:9
  • Rear camera: 24MP, f/1.7 PDAF; 8MP, f/2.4, FF, 12mm ultrawide; 10MP, f/2.4, autofocus, 2x optical zoom telephoto; 5MP, f/2.2 depth sensor
  • Front camera: 24MP, f/2.0
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 660, Adreno 512 GPU
  • Memory: 6GB/8GB (market dependant) of RAM, 128GB of storage
  • Battery: 3,800 mAh Li-Po

We were fortunate enough to get some hand-on time with the A9 (2018) already. You check our initial impressions in the hands-on review. That includes a few camera samples as well. Just don’t judge them too harshly since the test unit in question was running an early software build. We will definitely have more shots for your pixel-peeping pleasure in the upcoming full review.
