Pixel 3 and 3 XL's Night Sight mode tested before rollout, impresses

Ro, 24 October 2018

The guys over at XDA surprised us with an early test of the Night Sight camera feature that should soon be rolled out to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones. It is supposed to be out sometime in November, but someone from the XDA-Developers forum enabled the feature on the Pixel 3, 3 XL and even on the older Pixel phones.

He decompiled the app, switched a value from false to true and recompiled the camera APK for the handset. He was even able to do it on the Pixel 2 XL, which is supposed to get the functionality with a future software update. The results are downright amazing.

The photos are taken with the Pixel 3s and the Pixel 2 XL phones and each scene shot with an HDR+ mode and with a Night Sight enabled. According to the article, it was so dark in some of the scenes that it was hard to see details with a naked eye, but the camera was still able to capture plenty. If you wish to try it out yourself, just head over to this link, download the APK file and install it. Keep in mind, though, that the feature is still not ready and Google is still tweaking the algorithm so when the functionality is ready to be rolled out, it should offer even better results.

I dont think so Huawei With leica optics or Nokia with Carl Zeiss will ALWAYS preform a lot better than expensive ugly sandwich from Google.

Technology evolves....more cameras are the way to go, sooner or later Pixel will introduce more sensor as well. There are always low end phone or midrange device using single camera sensor if thats are your point of view.

I hope you will see 10 cameras on your next phone... For me... a phone should have one camera and one button... I don't care how much software is behind... I want a single button "take a picture" and if the result is ok for me I don't care is a...
