Sprint's Galaxy S9 and S9+ are now receiving the Android 9 Pie update

Vlad, 31 January 2019

Another day, another US carrier pushes out the update to Android 9 Pie to its Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ units. A couple of days ago it was Comcast's Xfinity Mobile, yesterday it was Verizon, and today it's Sprint's turn.

The update is unsurprisingly rolling out in phases, so you'll see the notification at some point within the next few days. Once you install the new software, which comes in as a 2GB download, you'll be on build number G960UOYN3CSAB for the S9, and G965UOYN3CSAB for the S9+.

If you're impatient you can manually check for the update through settings. The January 2019 security patches should be built in, alongside everything that's new in Android 9 Pie and Samsung's revamped One UI. All in all, this is definitely not an update you'd want to miss.

I actually got the Sprint update a couple of days ago. Makes the phone feel much more fluid so far. I even got my battery swapped out for free at the ubreakifix. It's like bib have a new device.

I've just done the update (UK) & my status bar which was at the top of the screen has disappeared. I can see it when I swipe the screen from the top down or go onto the app screen. Can't wait to find more bugs with the update.
