Telstra offers to upgrade you to Galaxy S10 5G later if you buy a Galaxy S10+ now

Peter, 21 February 2019

Telstra is hyped up for 5G and will be the first carrier in Australia to offer the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, which will be available in the first half of the year. And you don’t have to wait, you buy a Galaxy S10+ now and upgrade to the S10 5G when it arrives “at no extra cost”.

The press release doesn’t go into details, presumably this means at no extra cost except the price difference to the Galaxy S10 5G (which will cost more than the S10+).

You get more than the next-gen wireless connectivity. Comparing the two, you get a larger screen (6.7” vs. 6.4”), 3D ToF cameras on the front and back, larger battery (4,500mAh vs. 4,100mAh) with faster 25W charging (USB PD 3.0).

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ (128GB) will be available for AUD 130 a month over 24 months with 160GB of data and unlimited talk and text. Pre-ordering a Galaxy S10, S10+ or even the S10e gets you a free pair of Galaxy Buds (worth AUD 250). More details on the pre-oders can be found here.

Telstra has 200 5G-enabled sites across Australia and building more. You can read more about 5G coverage here.

Forget Optus, Telstra or Vodafone. Check out JB Hi-Fi's deal, $65 per month! 80GB of data (every month!) and runs on the Telstra network (4GX speed) and you only have to pay $999 upfront for Samsung S10+ Plus you can upgrade to the 5G model for free ...

Hmm, then I would suggest it would be a good idea to pay for the 512, since that's all you'll need
