Get a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy Fold in an eerily silent video
The future has arrived – not with a bang, not even a whisper. Samsung has posted a video called “Get to Know the Galaxy Fold” and it’s almost completely quiet. All you hear is how the phone folds closed with the slightest “click” and the notification beep as a Galaxy Watch Active starts charging from the phone thanks to Wireless PowerShare.
The unique hinge that allows the Fold to open and close smoothly while protecting the screen makes no sound. The cover of that hinge can be customized – since you’re paying $1,980 for a phone, you may as well get the premium treatment.
Then there are the cameras, they are all over the Galaxy Fold. You can snap a selfie with the single camera on the “front” (when the phone is closed) or take a photo with the triple rear camera on the rear (wide, ultra-wide and tele). And if the phone is open, there’s a new dual selfie camera that can be used instead. You may want to have the phone open even when shooting with the rear camera, that 7.3” screen makes framing the shot a breeze.
We guess the presenter doesn’t need to talk when the phone shouts “awesome”. But there’s a lot of foldable competition at the MWC, the real fight will be to bring these innovative designs to market.
