Motorola Razr foldable smartphone's features revealed

Ro, 08 March 2019

You've probably heard about Motorola's plans to resurrect the Razr brand by giving it a more 2019 vibe - a flexible display. Essentially, it's going to be a flip phone with a high-tech twist. We've seen some schematics of what it might look like and now we have more details about the software features.

The guys over at XDA Developers have obtained info on some of the features and were kind enough to share them with the rest of us. For starters, the second display placed on the back. It doesn't give full access to all Android features. Only a couple of apps will be allowed to access the second display like Moto Display, Moto Actions and Moto Camera.

When unfolded, the secondary display can act as a trackpad to scroll webpages in Chrome. Engineers plan to support to other apps as well. The screen also shows up to 6 quick settings, but they remain unnamed at this point.

The main camera can be used for taking selfies as the secondary display can act as a viewfinder while the main one will take the photo with a single tap or a swipe. The external display also shows the clock, pulsing notifications and has media controls. You can set a different wallpaper for the second display too.

That's plenty of information to get us excited about the future of Razr phones and we can't wait for an official announcement.

A media player that unfolds into a phone is not something I'm interested in. A more compact phone that unfolds into a mini tablet is what I'd want.
