Tablets have shrunk in popularity in the past few years but that isn’t stopping Amazon from developing its affordable Fire lineup. Today, the e-commerce giant announced two updated Fire 7 slates, which remain the most affordable around.

The new Fire 7 comes with double the storage starting at 16GB and maxing out with 32GB. The physical appearance remains unchanged but there are three new colorways to choose from including Plum Red, Sage Green and Twilight Blue. The processor received a minor bump with added memory bandwidth.

The front camera now features HD resolution up from the 480p one in the previous gen. On the downside, Amazon rates the battery at seven hours which is 60 minutes less than the previous version. Both tablets support hands-free Alexa alongside all the usual Amazon Prime services built in.

The Kids Edition comes with the same upgrades as the standard version but also adds an adjustable kickstand in its ruggedized casing. Amazon offers a two-year worry-free guarantee promising to replace the tablet if it gets damaged in any way. The kids slate is also bundled with one-year FreeTime Unlimited with access to over 20,000 apps, games, videos and educational content.

Both devices will release on June 6 with pricing starting at $50 for the standard version while the kids edition will come at $100.

I really like the new color palette for these tablets. And once you add their matching fabric cases, they look very nice. (and possibly premium)
